Greenlight & ANW Mobility Workshop Recap

An Overview of our mobility workshop with Dr. Tiffanie and coach Laken

In October, Dr. Tiffanie joined with Coach Laken at Greenlight Personal Training to teach a mobility and mindset class for the community. Most of our patients and clients have common areas of stiffness in the shoulders and hips that often affect their day to day life and training. Breathwork and mindset practices were also incorporated to set a good intention and foundation for the class.

Benefits of active stretching

  • Lengthens the targeted muscle group AND improves antagonist muscle function (the muscles on the opposite side of the joint)
  • Improves function of the joint
  • strengthens the tendons, ligaments, and muscles surrounding the joint
  • Easily modified and can be loaded for different intentions and purposes. 

Benefits of self myofascial mobilization

  • Decreased pain
  • Reduced soreness
  • Increased localized blood flow

Breathwork and Mindset

  • Breathing fully into the abdomen, expanding 360 degrees in the abdomen and lower ribcage
  • Full exhale, practice for a set
  • Reframe your mindset, notice how you talk to and about yourself and replace the negative talk with empowering words and feelings

Hips

  •  Mobilization (hip flexors, glutes, adductors)
  • Mobility (90/90 ER and IR, adductor)
  • Controlled articular rotations (CARs)

Shoulders

  •  Mobilization (pecs, lats)
  • Mobility (sleeper stretch, wall angles, lats stretch doorway)
  • Controlled articular rotations (CARs)
