About Dr. Tom

Dr. Tom Cathell was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where he grew up playing football and ice hockey, and later training in mixed martial arts. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Psychology. He then went on to graduate with Honors from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. During his time at NYCC, Dr. Cathell earned advanced certifications in Sports Injury Management and Human Performance, as well as Whole Foods Nutrition. In his final year of school, he spent a semester at the Bath VA Medical Center in Bath, New York serving veterans as a member of the chronic pain management team. 

Dr. Cathell enjoys treating patients from all walks of life, but holds particular interest in treating active individuals, athletes, martial artists, and military/first responders. He has treated numerous collegiate and professional athletes, including work with the Washington Commanders and DC United. In 2022 while deployed to the Horn of Africa as an infantryman with the Virginia Army National Guard, Dr. Cathell had the unique opportunity to use his skills and training to help serve his fellow soldiers and contractors, as chiropractic is still not a widely available resource to those serving overseas.  

In his spare time, Dr. Cathell enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking, exercising, reading, and practicing martial arts.

In today’s world, a world of high speed solutions and instant gratification, we often get caught up looking for a quick fix to fit our busy schedules.

While it is common that many patients experience exceptional results with our therapy, the reality is, only we can truly heal ourselves. At the core of healing, it is the individual’s own body, mindset, attitude, and habits that harbor true and lasting wellness.

It is for this reason that we must shift our focus from quick fixes and hacks to lifelong improvement and self-mastery – how we breathe, move, eat, think, and feel in order for each of us to overcome our unique obstacles and reach our own optimal state.

My mission is to guide and empower you along your journey to health and wellness, to help identify barriers and provide the tools necessary to overcome them, and in doing so provide something better than a “fix”, but a lasting solution to give you independence and agency over your life and well-being.
