Isabel Hulkower, LAc

About Isabel
Isabel is a licensed acupuncturist. After growing up in this area, she received her bachelors at Oberlin College and her masters from Virginia University of Integrative Medicine.
In her clinical practice, Isabel is delighted to meet patients exactly where they are, and care for the body holistically in all of its complexity- whether that’s chronic pain, trouble sleeping, digestive issues, emotional turbulence, or other types of imbalances. Her favorite times to work with patients are during periods of deep change and movement, including preparing for pregnancy and birth.
Outside of the office she is heavily involved with sustainable agriculture, and continues to work on an organic vegetable farm on her off days. The intersection of food, culture, and health is one of her favorite topics and she loves to provide dietary and nutritional support for patients.
Background
As a Northern Virginia native, I’m overjoyed to practice here and share the profound healing power of Chinese medicine with this community. With roots in the local sustainable agriculture movement, some of my favorite topics are nutrition, seasonality, and our connection to the natural world.
Treatment Style
This is a gentle yet potent medicine and I embrace that in how I relate with patients. Appointments are tailored to each individual’s needs and personalized based on their physical constitution, emotional state, and specific health goals.
Empathetic Care
Emotional well-being is closely connected to physical health. As a practitioner I strive to truly listen to clients, make space for their whole nuanced personhood, and honor their boundaries.
